How We Do It

THE RENOVATION PROCESS

There are many steps in the course of home renovation. But that doesn’t mean it has to be difficult. Renov8tors has been doing this for over 37 years. And over this time, we’ve developed a hassle-free process that we believe is as important as a stylish design. We have it down to an art, and we take care of everything.

Here’s how:

Step 1: FIRST APPOINTMENT

Your design consultant visits you for an initial briefing.

What do we do?

  • Analyze your existing home, and discuss your needs, goals and preferences
  • Bounce some design ideas off you
  • Discuss costs and get an idea of your budget

What do you do?

  • Tell your consultants as much as possible
  • Have a few sketches and a budget ready

Step 2: DESIGN & MEASURE

In a second meeting, we take measurements and refine your ideas based on your budget.

What do we do?

  • Measure and photograph your home
  • Perform a comprehensive audit – covering materials required, position of sewer lines, easements, access points, set-backs, asbestos, etc.
  • Clarify your plan and ideas

What do you do?

  • Prepare a scrapbook that includes photos & magazine clippings (Knowing what style you’re going for will make it easier when you’re searching the Internet. Try using houzz.com to capture these ideas.)

Step 3: DRAWING & PLANNING

We draw up the plans for your proposed renovation and prepare your Preliminary Plans Agreement (PPA).

What do we do?

  • Prepare a contour survey if required
  • Draw a plan of your existing home
  • Create plans for your proposed renovation
  • Put together a costing for you
  • Design colored perspective drawings (internal and external)
  • Prepare Preliminary Plans Agreement (PPA) drawings and documentation

What do you do?

  • Be honest. Give us your opinions throughout the process.

Step 4: MEETING & DOCUMENTING

What do we do?

    • Present your renovation floor plans and color perspective drawings for approval
    • Show you a fixed price costing
    • Provide details about all inclusions and exclusions

What do you do?

  • Look over your plans and drawings
  • Consider the price and inclusions
  • Ask as many questions as you want
  • Sign off on the PPA plans

Step 5: CHECK & MEASURE

At this stage, your area manager, draftsperson and scheduler visit for a check and measure meeting.

What do we do?

    • Perform a thorough inspection to ensure that everything in the PPA drawings can be built and that nothing has been missed
    • Conduct a thorough construction and structural inspection so there are no surprises after

contract. This includes photos, notes and measurements of all areas, including in the roof and under the house.

  • Take photos of all existing finishes that will remain on the house to ensure that all new materials match

What do you do?

    • Sign on the dotted line
    • Get excited

Step 6: APPROVALS

We get all the necessary approvals needed to go ahead with the renovation process (council, etc.)

What do we do?

      • Submit applications for all the necessary approvals, including building license, building permits and water corporation approvals.

What do you do?

      • Nothing!

Step 7: PRE-START

This is the fun part: You choose your colours, selections and upgrades.

What do we do?

      • Walk you through your colour and selection options
      • Offer guidance on the latest trends and styles
      • Price any upgrades
      • Amend plans and addenda with any changes, and supply final versions for your approval
      • Instruct our scheduling department to order materials and start construction

What do you do?

      • Sign off on final plans and relevant amendments.

TIP: By signing off quickly, you enable a faster start on construction.

Step 8: CONSTRUCTION

What do we do?

      • Get our professional tradespeople to complete your renovation, as planned, to budget, and with fixed start and end dates
      • Minimize disruption to your daily life, so that you can continue living in your home while we work

What do you do?

    • Watch your dreams come to life
